So where did Jesus come from? February 15, 2008

The Bible tells us that Jesus did not have an earthly father. The seed placed in his mother’s womb was from God. I guess that if Jesus had an earthly father, he would have been born in sin. It’s something about the sinful blood or bloodline that is inhereted from the father’s seed.
If God is seen as a group of people with glorified bodies in the heavenly realm in the context of evolution, then a possible explanation of Jesus’ birth can be found in Genesis 6 in the time of Noah just before the great flood: “when the sons of God had connection with the daughters of men, they gave birth to children: these were the great men of old days, the men of great name”.
In the context of evolution Jesus’ physical dad could therfore have been someone like Enoch or Elijah who artificially inseminated a seed into Mary’s womb.
The tree of life February 9, 2008

The difference between us and animals is that we are self aware and they are not. The Bible speaks about a tree of the knowledge of good and evil. I think it was eaten from when the most developed and evolved species (homo sapiens) became self aware. Lies was already in the world – for protection – think of a fish that has a bright false eye so that a predator will not poke his true eyes.
Self awareness was when we discovered that we are naked. And together with the lie it caused shame.
What about the tree of life. Homo sapiens was not ready to eat from it yet after eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil so they were cast from paradise.
Who then was the first to eat from the tree of life? Was it not Enoch. He walked with “God” or “love” and passed the test of this realm to enter the next without his earthly body having to die (Gen 5:24). His body was transformed to one that can live much longer. I think the peace and joy he experienced caused a sort of internal wind up that one day caused the matter of his body to vibrate at a frequency above the optical frequency range, making it invisible to those still in the optical frequency range.
Who knows what this new body is capable of. Flying? Making itself visible to us by slowing down its vibrating speed to appear like an angel? Performing miracles?
I suspect that after Enoch found himself in this new realm in awe of his new appearance, he eventually felt lonely being still a person and in need of fellowship. Who could he turn to? What would he do to add more people to his realm?
I suspect he knew that to get where he was required the following of a very specific set of rules. Or that the law of love brings with it a set of behaviours. He then communicated this behaviours down to the people in the form of commandments. Since love can not be taken but only given, it was pretty difficult to get someone to join him, but eventually came Elijah. I think Moses came before him because when he “died” his eyes was not dim, nor had he lost any of his natural strength (Deu 34:7). And since nobody knew where his grave was, I think God could have buried him upwards in stead of downwards. That’s probably why he was able to appear to Jesus on the mountain together with Elijah (Mat 17:3), since all the others was at Hades in the underworld from where Jesus had to save them after his death (Act 2:27).
I think once you receive this glorified body you are fully transparent to others that have the same body. Your thoughts are broadcast at certain frequencies that can be picked up by those around you. So it won’t be necessary to talk to communicate. Are you ready for that? Only when I have nothing left to hide will I be ready for that. When I have learned to love completely. When life is about us and not about me anymore. When I have nothing left to protect. When I have learned to trust unconditionally.
If evolution is true, how long will we live? February 8, 2008

If evolution is true in the sense that nature is responsible for creation and there is nobody with permanent awareness that created everything, where does it leave us in terms of our lifespan?
If we consider the lifespan of the universe (lets say from the so called big bang up to now) and also consider the width of the electromagnetic spectrum relative to the very tiny optical frequency (visible to us) band, then why would nature not have come up with something that lives longer than a human being in our current form?
Wouldn’t it be spiteful of nature to cut our lifes short before we had the chance to experience more of its enormous diversity?
My instinct says that nature will let us experienced everything it has to offer after which we will be content in ceasing our existence. I think that’s the eternal life the bible talks about.
So what did God do before he created everything? January 12, 2008

Creation theory has it that God (someone with permanent awareness) created the heavens and earth. A question often asked is: What did he do before he created the heavens and earth? An answer may be that he thought about how he was going to create it. Then again what did he do before that? What did he do before he created anything or think about creating anything? Where did it all start?
One may say that God’s time is not ours. To him one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like one day. But then lets think about his time or the time that he lives in.
The usual answer given to this problem is that God stands outside of time and that he can manipulate time as he sees fit.
If God can manipulate time then we should also be able to give the following scenario:
One day God decided to stop the time. After he stopped the time, he … After? When I use the word ‘after’, time must be in its ‘on’ state and therefore could not have been stopped.
It seems that the only way to stop the time would be to start it again at the exact moment it was stopped.
But I don’t think that qualifies for manipulating time.
Do you serve a cruel God? January 12, 2008

I suppose it is generally excepted that the probability that God will sin is 0%. He is holy and knows better because sin causes death.
So somewhere along the line God creates Lucifer. Lucifer doubts God’s laws or thinks he can be better than what he is and sins in the process. Consequently he is thrown out of heaven and will burn in hell forever.
Common sense tells me that Lucifer would not have done it if he was 100% sure of what would happen to him. But still God created him with the ability to desire more than what he was created to be.
This means that God, who is unable to sin, created somebody who is able to sin and suffer terrible consequences because he’s not as clever as God.
Not only does it seem unfair to me but also cruel.
The way of peace in South Africa January 10, 2008

I saw a DVD about the plans of some angry black people in Southern Africa that want to kill all the white people in South Africa. After watching the DVD the probability of it actually happening seemed very high. The presenter is an ex-militant in the information gathering part of the South African army. On the DVD he gives advice on what should be done if the paw-paw eventually strikes the fan. War seems to be the only option.
It made me think of the words of the Japanese general in the movie “Pearl Harbour”. Just before attacking, he said something like: “Lucky is he who can find a way to prevent a war from ever being necessary”.
After thinking about the Christian faith for a while it stroke me: “The Japanese general probably did not have Christianity at his disposal, because with Christianity there is always a way to obtain peace without war”.
Being a Christian I have given my life to God. Should I protect that which belongs to God or is he capable of doing it himself if necessary? And what is his character as described by Jesus when it comes to his enemies? Would he turn the other cheek or walk the second mile or give his coat or even his life?
The conclusion I drew was the solution of wealth sharing. They hate us because of apartheid and because they think we received everything easily without suffering the way they are suffering to fill their bellies and build their houses.
Perhaps if we could gather enough love to fight the hate it won’t be necessary for anyone to die.
Message of the gospel December 26, 2007

The general understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ is that our sins can now be forgiven without us paying anything for it. Jesus paid the price in full. Every time we have sinned and feel guilty about it and have true regret, God will take our sins away. We can simply let it go after we have confessed it and brought it out in the open before God.
What if the message of the gospel can be extended a bit? What if God never even realised that we have sinned in the first place because of what Jesus did?
The first scenario is like carrying a bag. Every time we have to fill the bag with rocks (sins) and then throw them out in front of Jesus’ feet (confessing our sins). But we keep the bag.
What if the real message of the gospel is this: “Give me your bag”
Friendship with Jesus? December 25, 2007

I can read everything Jesus has done, but can I really be his friend and he mine as two real people can be? I would explain the dynamics of the friendship as follows:
Say I don’t know you at all and all of a sudden I see my best friend John talking to you in the shopping mall. I walk up to where the two of you are standing and say: “Hi John.”
“Hi Carl, I want you to meet a good friend of mine.” Then, facing you I put out my hand and say: “Hi, please to meet you. A friend of John is a friend of mine!”
So without knowing you at all I am your friend. Why? Because I am a friend of John.
Ever heard the expression: “Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are”?
We befriend Jesus by befriending friends that forms a part of the chain of friends that goes all the way up to him.
And when we see him face to face, may it be like Peter says in Acts 2:28 “I will be full of joy when I see your face”.
Am I then an athiest or what? December 24, 2007

In my previous post I made the statement that I don’t think God is a person and rather something than someone. But isn’t there a contradiction in such a statement. If the word “God” is used, one naturally think of it being a person. Shouldn’t I then remove the word God from my vocabulary all together?
Its difficult for me. You see, I do regard myself as a Christian.
A Christian that doesn’t believe in God? How on earth!?
Okay, let me put it this way: I believe, out of a Christian viewpoint, that ”God” gave up his godship 2000 years ago to start a friendship. In John 15:15 Jesus tells his dissiples that he does not regard them as servants any longer, but as friends. I don’t think it was because of who they were, but because of who he was and what he was about to do. The message of the gospel might have more in it than what we think.
The identity of God December 21, 2007

In my previous post I stated that during my first love with God I relied unconditionally on something very specific. What was that something and why do I say ‘something’ in stead of ‘someone’?
I believe that God can only be found at the centre of our hearts. To me God is leadership from the inside out. There I said it. I’ve “unpersonated” God. The Bible does it too: “God is love”, “I am the truth, the way and the life”, “In the beginning was the word”. Okay, the Bible is full of God being a person so if words like this come along we don’t attend to it in the sense that God might not be a person.
But what if he isn’t? Would it make him better or worse? Worse in the sense that:
- Who do I then actually have a relationship with?
- Who do I thank for all the good things in life?
Care to add more?
Better in the sense that:
- We don’t see God as a role model and therefore don’t try to be supreme over others.
- We don’t have anyone to blame for all the bad things in life.
- Persons can change, principles like “leadership from the inside out” cannot.
